The process of screening and selection of personnel leads to making important decisions regarding Talent Acquisition.
Relying solely on the information provided by candidates within their CVs can pose a great risk to the recruiter, since they often are insufficient or unreliable.
Thanks to technological progress, there are now many digital tools that facilitate the search for talented resources. Such tools are, today, indispensable for planning a selection process, which works best when combining different types of evaluations to outline the full profile of the candidate.
In particular, artificial intelligence has played a fundamental role in the automation of certain types of tests the candidates took. These tests are crucial because they allow the recruiter to acquire details related to both hard and soft skills that do not emerge from CVs in an immediate and obvious way.
Based on the information needed to select candidates, there are different types of tests with the aim of exploring separate areas of expertise and skills.
Aptitude tests are designed to assess skills related to the performance of certain activities and are necessary to understand the aptitude of the candidate to acquire the necessary abilities through training programs.
Cognitive skills tests are, instead, designed to test the candidate’s propensity to problem-solving, the acquisition of new knowledge in the workplace and the implementation of certain mental processes.
Personality tests can prove to be a valuable tool through which to acquire different information related to the interests, attitudes, relational abilities and motivation of the candidates.
Finally, integrity tests are useful in the case of “high risk” candidates. These are human resources that implement counter-productive behaviour such as absenteeism, repeated delays, possible fraud or theft and drug addiction.
So, if you use it correctly, artificial intelligence assessments can help companies make more informed decisions in the selection of high-potential talent.
